rallentare:
The Art of Slowing Down

.png)
[ral-len-tah-reh] • Italian
(v.) to slow down
Rallentare is
a softening,
a surrender,
a gentle bow
to many things—the beauty, intricacies and connections of life—but mostly to slowing down.

Rallentare will be journal entries on food, travel and art. It will be photo diaries and contemplations on the nature of presence. It will be conversations with friends, old and new. Rallentare will explore the many layers of what it means to live a life of slowing down.
I am in no way an expert on slowing down. I am not writing this to teach anything. I am writing this because, in my reflection, it just seems to be the path I’ve been on.
I called it “Rallentare: the Art of Slowing Down” because art is messy, it’s imperfect, and it’s a practice that asks you to come back to it again, and again, and again. A life of rallentare is an art. I vow to let this be that—to allow it to emerge from a place of uncertainty, the honesty that I am always self-discovering, and the ‘I don’t actually know’ place. Most importantly, to allow it to come from my heart.
If you feel inclined to come on this journey with me, I would be honoured.
