I didn't grow up feeling connected to my Feminine. I didn't grow up honouring my menstrual cycle or feeling the depth of my connection to the Moon. In fact, I rejected all of these parts of me. During a ceremony, I was shown the many ways I had been rejecting my Feminine for years. It was one of those life moments where once you know, you can't 'unknow'. This ceremony launched me into a deep exploration of my Feminine and I began to rebuild the bridge of connection with my truth. Now, many more ceremonies, studies, healing work and years later, I find myself deeply passionate about empowering women to deepen their own relationship with their Feminine and get into their earthy bodies to discover the wisdom and truth that is their birthright. This feels like my purpose, my 'why' in this lifetime.

Hi, I'm Jo,
the creatrix of La Luna Within.
HOW DID I GET HERE?
La Luna means 'The Moon'. Since that ceremony, La Luna has shown up as a powerful ally on my journey. Her Feminine wisdom naturally teaches about the cyclical nature of life, reminds us that we all wax and wane, that we all experience seasons that ask us to be outward and vibrant, and seasons that ask us to rest deeply, that we all evolve through cycles of death and rebirth. We all hold this inner wisdom, this inner Moon, this Feminine within. Honouring this sacred connection is how La Luna Within came to be.
WHY LA LUNA WITHIN?
I support women who want to deepen their relationship with their Feminine and get into their earthy bodies. The journey back to my Feminine showed up when I began connecting with the wisdom and power of my menstrual cycle. Today, I have deep reverence for how this wisdom naturally teaches us about the Feminine, and how it is mirrored within the rhythms and cycles of the Moon. I believe that when we, as women, truly get into our bodies and honour this inner teacher, this Moon within, we discover a truth that empowers us towards a more aligned and authentic expression of who we truly are.
I am here to empower you.
I am here to honour your healing journey.
Although the Feminine is not exclusively connected to an organ (we all hold Feminine and Masculine energies), a big part of my journey back to my Feminine was through my womb space and menstrual cycle. Giving myself permission to really get into my body as a woman and connect to this gift within me taught me to honour myself in countless ways. It gave me permission to simply be as I needed to and meet my body where she was at, it strengthened my intuition and taught me to show up with compassion for myself. Although it has not been easy, this journey has changed my life in so many ways. It is an absolute honour to support others on their journey.
HOW DO I SUPPORT YOUR JOURNEY?
I naturally gravitate towards Feminine approaches to healing - modalities that encourage you to honour where you're at in your ceremony of life. My approach is very holistic and I have tools to support you physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually.
I support women with private sessions, workshops and series, community gatherings, and photography.

THE FORMAL EDUCATION ADVENTURE I'VE BEEN ON
Before I share snippets of my background and education, I'd like to say that I'm not necessarily a proponent of letters to a name. Some of the greatest teachings about trauma, the subconscious, healing, the Feminine, menstruation and community have shown up outside of a classroom, and some of my greatest teachers in this life don't have letters to their name. In Indigenous contexts, speech and oral teachings were considered primary sources, and many of my lessons have shown up in this way. Truthfully, I think it's unfortunate that in North American contexts, much of our social value is placed on the letters behind our name rather than our lived experiences and teachings. However, I do think it is important to be transparent so you can decide if you're comfortable with my scope of practice and if I'm the right person to support you.
SCOPE OF PRACTICE
I hold a Bachelor in Kinesiology from the University of Calgary, have done course work at the University of British Columbia and I am a Registered Clinical Hypnotherapist (ARCH Canada). I have completed a 220hr Women's Yoga Therapy Teacher Training with special focus on womb healing, female anatomy, menstrual awareness and ayurvedic principles. I've also participated in courses, practices, workshops, ceremonies and studies for menstrual education, ayurveda, yoni empowerment, tantra, energy work, trauma, and psychosomatic work. I truly believe in taking a holistic approach and have the tools to support you physically, emotionally and energetically. Naturally, I love showing up as a student and consistently seek teachings and practices to dive deeper. Plant Medicine has been a big part of my journey - some of my greatest teachings have come from the lived experience of gathering in ceremony.
Prior to my shift into this field, I was very passionate about working with individuals with disability and spent many years as a coach, mentor, volunteer and inclusion program facilitator. Fun fact: I have declined two Masters Degrees because my heart was pulling me to alternative holistic care and the mind-body-spirit connection. I never regret that decision.
